American singer Mary Millben feels honored to be invited to 75th Independence Day celebration, thanks PM Modi
New Delhi, August 13: American singer Mary Millben, known for her rendition of ‘Om Jai Jagadish Hare’ and ‘Jana Gana Mana’, feels honored to be invited to India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations and specially thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this gesture.
Millben is the first American artist to be invited to India by the ICCR for Independence Day celebrations. “It is such an honor. It is such a humbling time to be in India for the 75th anniversary of your independence. We in America certainly understand the value of freedom and independence as we celebrate the July 4. And so to be here in the homeland, a country that I love very much, to celebrate your independence. It’s just a great honor,” Milben told ANI.
The American singer mentioned that she certainly does not take lightly the opportunity given to her to be the first American artist invited to the celebration of independence.
Calling on newly elected President Draupadi Murmu as an inspiration, Millben said: “I consider it a great honor. I certainly want to thank His Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for whom I have great respect, and certainly to your newly elected President. What an inspiration his election has been to the world now His Excellency President Murmu.”
The American singer also shared her experience singing for 3 US Presidents namely George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump and said, “Whenever you are called or asked to sing, definitely from a president of the United States, regardless of party. It’s a huge honor. I’m humbled and honored to have been able to sing for President Bush, President Obama and President Trump, and I certainly look forward to having the opportunity to sing for President Biden. But it’s a great honor and every experience has had its own memorable moments and I tell you my life is truly an example of the American Dream.”
