Bihar singer gang-raped in Patna, three arrested
In another horrific incident, a 28-year-old local singer was gang-raped in the capital, Patna, on Friday night. Reports say the victim is performing at birthday parties, weddings and other functions across the state.
The victim is from Jahanabad district in Bihar and was raped at gunpoint. The three defendants Sanjiv Kumar, Pintu Kumar and Karu Kumar were convicted under Section 376 D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act 34 (criminal conspiracy) along with other relevant sections of the ICC.
In her complaint, the victim said that the defendant had booked her for a wedding reception, but when she went to the wedding hall, she discovered that no such reception was taking place. . Upon enquiring, the accused pointed a gun at her and dragged her inside a room and raped her one by one.
The victim further alleged that the defendant also captured the crime on a cell phone. She managed to escape them and locked herself in another room. Later, she contacted the police control room and informed them of the crime.
Reports say police confirmed the rape based on the victim’s medical examination.
On Saturday, another rape case in Samastipur district of Bihar came to light in which an 18-year-old girl was raped by her father. The victim shot a video of her father raping her and shared it on social media and demanded justice.
The 50-year-old father was later arrested by police. DSP of Rosera Subdivision, Sahiyar Akhtar said the police registered an FIR based on the girl’s complaint and arrested the accused.
The accused is a teacher by profession and hails from Rosera in Smastipur. Reports say the victim’s mother did not object to the assault and was pressured by the maternal uncle to keep quiet about the incident.
