Dua Lipa Cardiff review: Singer blows the roof off an electric gig in Cardiff – Morgan Hughes

Rumors of Motorpoint Arena moving to another location seem like a good idea after Dua Lipa did indeed blow off the roof of the arena last night. The atmosphere at Motorpoint Arena was electric as pop singer Dua Lipa returned to Cardiff for the first time in four years.

Chart-topping superstar Dua Lipa has hit the capital with her upcoming Nostalgia Tour, the ninth leg of her tour. In my first post-Covid show, the levitating singer didn’t disappoint, she took the works to the capital of Wales with giant lobsters, confetti, dancers on skates and some of the best vibes I’ve ever seen. have seen in a crowd for a long time.

The highly anticipated show was postponed for two years due to Covid, but it was certainly worth the two year wait. Singer Dua said, “Thank you for holding on to your tickets for two years, we’re finally here.”

The venue buzzed as people crowded into the venue, cheers echoing around the arena for the 26-year-old as she opened the show in a pink jumpsuit with Physical. The hit was one of his singles from his 2020 album, the song really warming up the crowd and setting them up for his second song New Rules, another one of his catchy tracks, one of his first big hits from his debut album eponym.

The crowd sang in support of the Griff act as she kicked off the show and sang her insanely popular song One Night, the talent this woman showed was second to none. She sang, she played guitar, she played piano, and she also brought an incredibly warm energy to the stage to start the show.

Once the crowd warmed up and sang along to their heart’s content, everyone from the youngsters in the crowd to the parents they had dragged along with them jumped to her extremely catchy numbers before jumping into the tracks of her latest album Future Nostalgia, many of which are Boys Will Be Boys and Good in Bed lockdown anthems.

Electric atmosphere, giant inflatable lobsters and dancers on skates are waiting for you

The singer, who wowed the Welsh crowd with her amazing choreography, incredible costumes and electric energy, gave a stunning performance for her first time in Cardiff since the pandemic began. London-born Dua Lipa, who now has over 82 million Instagram followers, changed her outfit several times during the show with her silver leotard combined with sparkly boots and an embellished black jumpsuit last, two of my personal favorites. Your eyes were permanently fixed on the singer as she strutted downstage like a catwalk in her incredible wardrobe that looked like she had just stepped out of a fashion show.

The arena was also transformed, turning into what looked like a giant club with Dua throwing it back to 2018 with her track One Kiss which featured Calvin Harris and a pretty epic laser show to go along with it. I think what was most refreshing to see in my first post-Covid show was her incredible energy on stage, she seemed to really enjoy every minute of her time on stage and it really reflected how much the crowd enjoyed the evening as well .

As she performed Cold Heart, her collaboration with Elton John, the whole arena sang with her. A sea of lights from phones lit up the room as she sat on stage wrapped in an LGBT flag and sang the melody, she looked amazing.

Wearing another amazing catsuit, Dua joined the crowd for an encore where she performed Future Nostalgia and then ended the show with Don’t Start Now. This highly anticipated show was due to take place in September last year, but Covid and social distancing rules postponed it until last night. The Covid restrictions seemed like a lifetime watching the thousands of people crammed into the arena. Her incredible energy, amazing outfits and buzzing dancers, bands and singers carried on late into the night and kept on giving, a great first show since the pandemic.
