Ex-Iced Earth Vocalist Matt Barlow Says He Spoke to Jon Schaffer: ‘He’s Fine’

Old FROZEN EARTH leader Matt Barlow say that Jon Schaffer is doing “well”, more than a year after being arrested for his role in the United States Capitol riot.

The 50-year-old singer, married to Schaffersister of, discussed her current relationship with FROZEN EARTH‘s founder, songwriter, guitarist and producer while doing press for his ASHES OF ARES project. Asked by Greece “TV War” if he spoke to Jon in the 12 months since Schaffer was taken into federal custody, Mast said, “I spoke to Jon, but we don’t talk about that kind of stuff. He is fine. I mean, he’s my brother-in-law.”

barlow announced his departure from FROZEN EARTH in March 2011. The allegations also apparently affected Schaffer‘s relationship with his longtime record label Media of the Centurywho had released albums of both FROZEN EARTH and DEMONS AND WIZARDS. Since mid-January 2021, the Media of the Century the artist listing page did not list either group.

ASHES OF ARESwhich also includes the former FROZEN EARTH member Freddie Vidalesreleased their third studio album, “Emperors and Fools”on January 21 through ROAR! rock of angels.
