The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to singer and former ATN Bangla TV news presenter Eva Arman, who was charged in a human trafficking case filed at Gulshan police station in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

A bench of Judge Mustafa Zaman Islam and Judge Md Salim granted bail for Eva for six weeks after she surrendered to the court asking for bail.

On June 24, Gulshan police filed charges against Eva and nine others, most of whom are girls, for allegedly forcing them into prostitution after inviting girls from different parts of the country to the Aroma Thai spa in the capital. .

Police said in the case that the spa center had been opened on the fifth floor of Eva’s seven-storey building at Gulshan 2 in the capital and prostitution businesses were operating there.

Eva’s lawyer, ABM Altaf Hossain, argued that the singer was only the owner of the building and was not involved in the alleged offences.

The lawyer told the court that Eva had filed a general log with the Gulshan police station against the illegal act of the upstairs tenant.
