Husband of late gospel singer, Osinachi escapes Kuje prison during terrorist attack
Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi, is believed to have escaped from Kuje Correctional Center in Abuja, the nation’s capital, during last Tuesday’s terrorist attack on Kuje Correctional Center in Abuja, reports SaharaReporters.
The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), had claimed responsibility for the attack in a video.
In the video, the terrorist cult showed some of its men firing into the facility.
According to the Nigerian government, 879 inmates escaped from the facility during the unfortunate attack.
Several security sources confirmed to SaharaReporters on Tuesday that the late gospel singer’s husband was among the escaped detainees.
“During our roll call yesterday, we found out that the late gospel singer’s husband is missing,” a senior prison official told SaharaReporters.
A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Wuse had remanded Nwachukwu to Kuje Correctional Facility on June 3, pending hearing and decision on the homicide prosecution brought against him by the Attorney General. of the Federation.

His wife died on April 8, and many of her colleagues had accused her husband of subjecting the deceased to domestic violence, leading to her death.
Nwachukwu allegedly kicked Osinachi in the chest, resulting in a blood clot that ultimately killed her.
Singer Frank Edwards has also revealed that an “unreasonable human” ended his life.
There are reports that Osinachi refused to leave the marriage despite the domestic violence due to his commitment to the church.
Subsequently, the police arrested Nwachukwu and he was charged in court.
The government claimed it breached sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015; Article 221 of the Penal Code; and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act 2015.
