Miley Cyrus has said a plane she was on was forced to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning while traveling to South America.

On Instagram on Wednesday, Cyrus said the plane encountered unexpected bad weather while traveling to Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. She and her crew were safe, she said.

“To my fans and anyone who is worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in an unexpected major storm and struck by lightning,” Cyrus wrote on Instagram. “My crew, my group, my friends and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing.”

“Unfortunately we couldn’t fly to Paraguay. 💔 I LOVE YOU,” Cyrus added.

In her post, the “Plastic Hearts” singer shared a video that caught passengers gasping as lightning flashed outside a plane window. She also included a photo of some apparent damage to the plane.

Cyrus was traveling to Asunción to headline the Asunciónico Music Festival on Wednesday.

Fellow musicians Doja Cat, the Foo Fighters and Machine Gun Kelly were due to take the stage on opening day on Tuesday, but the first day of the festival was cancelled. due to bad weather.
