Singer Una Healy’s new boyfriend revealed as Dublin Garda
The affection of singer and presenter Una Healy caught the eye of An Garda Siochána – and one dashing man in uniform in particular.
The Saturdays star, who returned to live in Ireland last year, is dating the Dublin-based officer, but the relationship is still in its infancy.
The mother-of-two was introduced to her by friends, with sources saying the couple instantly “hit it off”.
“They have been quietly dating for a few months now. Una wants to take it slow and have fun again after all the upheaval in her life,’ a source said.
With his new officer and gentleman based in the capital and proud daughter Tipp Una back in her home town of Thurles, there have been cross-county encounters as the pair get to know each other.
Una, who recently stepped in to replace fellow Tipperary stars the 2 Johnnies as presenter of RTÉ’s New Year’s Countdown, is said to be keen to try and keep her new man on lock down for the minute.
The former girl group star has been single since splitting from sports physiotherapist and Limerick GAA star David Breen last year.
At the time of the split, Una posted a cryptic quote indicating that her year-long romance was over. Sharing a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt on Instagram, Una wrote, “A woman is like a tea bag; you never know how strong it is until it’s in hot water.
Although their split was tumultuous, it was obviously amicable with reports saying it was a “mutual decision”.
“They realized they were at very different stages in their lives and were struggling to make things work properly,” a source said at the time.
Una began dating Breen shortly after her split from Ben Foden. She was married to the England rugby player for six years and they have two children together, Aoife Belle and Tadhg. Ben remarried Jackie Belanoff Smith just two weeks after they met in August 2019.
