SocialMediaTrends: Late gospel singer Osinachi suffered domestic abuse? How Nigerians Respond

Widespread outrage followed new reports claiming that popular gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu died of domestic abuse, not throat cancer.

The “Ekwueme” crooner’s friends and colleagues made this known in a series of Facebook posts and WhatsApp status messages.

They accused her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, of being a “control freak” whose only interest was to maximize the profit from his voice.

A close friend also said the victim’s husband was also her personal manager and was responsible for her phones, social media accounts and bank accounts.

A verified Facebook page for Frank Edwards fans also confirmed the allegation in a post: “So this unreasonable human being finally turned off a bright light. I won’t say much now, I’ll let the former NDDC director speak (Aunty Joy) who went out of her way to prevent this from happening, but it happened anyway. We tried to stop that”.

Another source also claimed that the late Osinachi looked crestfallen when asked to remove her ‘terrible’ husband from his job as manager.

The melodious 42-year-old singer was reported dead on Friday evening, at a hospital in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
