LOCAL praise and worship music group, Spirit Praise Choir, will launch their Elonga (Victory) duet with Congolese rhumba singer Dispatch.
The launch of the song and accompanying video was set for the Cresta Oasis hotel in the capital.
Spirit Praise Choir director Learnmore Tawengwa said NewsDay Life & Style yesterday that they were open to collaborations with artists of all genres.
“In our effort to preach the word of God through music, we are open to working with anyone who is suitable for our mission. To prove it, we combined our voices with Congolese singer Dispatch,” he said.
“Our collaboration with Dispatch on Elonga (Victory) is our first release of the year and we are happy to have started the year on a good note.
He said Elonga (Victory) was a deep rumba song.
“Our new offering is about a man who has lived a life of abuse and has been severely traumatized. As a result, he begs God to come into his life so he can overcome temptation,” he said. .
Spirit Praise Choir will also use the event as a launch pad for many of their market-ready productions.
The band hopes to release new releases every month.
“We have a lot of programs that we do outside of singing. We have empowerment programs through seminars and workshops in our effort to create a better world through praise and worship,” Tawengwa said.
Formed in 2013, Spirit Praise Choir has over 40 members and has two musical albums, Yatokwana Nguva and Vatatu Mumwechete as well as six live DVDs recorded as part of the One Voice concert series.
