The 18-year-old Vancouver Island singer performs at the UK’s biggest football stadium (VIDEO)
A Vancouver Island singer continues to take the pop music scene by storm with another milestone in his career, including a performance at Wembley Stadium over the weekend.
On June 12, Nanaimo-born Lauren Spencer-Smith was one of 22 artists to perform at the Summertime Ball, hosted by Capital radio station.
Among the artists were big names such as Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and David Guetta.
The festival was held at Wembley Stadium in London, the biggest football stadium in the UK and the second biggest in Europe with a capacity of 90,000 people!
After the performance, Spencer-Smith took to TikTok to express her excitement.
In 2019, Nanaimo-born Spencer-Smith released her debut album, ‘Unplugged, Vol. 1.’, which earned it a JUNO nomination for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year.
The following year, when Spencer-Smith was only sixteen, she auditioned for American Idol and wowed the judges with her talent.
In January 2022, Spencer-Smith’s face was on a Times Square billboard in New Yorkpromoting her new single Crossed fingers-which reached #2 on iTunes at the time and ranked in the top 20 played songs on Apple Music, Spotify Weekly, and Amazon Music.
Now Spencer-Smith sings in front of thousands of people in one of the most famous stadiums in the world.
