US singer Meat Loaf dies at 74 with wife by his side

Meat Loaf died aged 74 with his wife by his side on Thursday evening (January 21).

News of the death of Bat Out of Hell singer, real name Michael Lee Aday, was confirmed in a statement by his agent on Friday.

The Grammy-winning singer and actor died with his wife Deborah by his side.

His two daughters Pearl and Amanda were able to spend time with their father before his death, officer Michael Greene said.

In a statement, his family said: “Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side.

“Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him for the past 24 hours.

“His incredible career has spanned six decades which has seen him sell over 100 million albums worldwide and star in over 65 films including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne’s World.

“Bat Out of Hell remains one of the 10 best-selling albums of all time.

“We know how much he meant to so many of you and we truly appreciate all the love and support we are going through this time of grief at losing such an inspiring artist and a beautiful man.
